Halifax Crafters Society Seeking Board Members
Want to support the local craft community and join the Halifax Crafters Society? We are currently recruiting board members at large.
New board members would be welcomed into the organization at our upcoming AGM, taking place in June. The deadline for board applications is Monday, May 15, 2023. Send en email to halifaxcrafters@gmail.com.

Board Member Expectations
The Board of Halifax Crafters is responsible for all things related policy, long-term planning, finance and procedure. Below, we have listed the commitment of each board member:
attend approximately 8-10 Board meetings/year virtually
attend Organizing Member meetings/year as Board representative on occasion
contribute a minimum of 25 volunteer hours/show (meetings, committees, jurying, day-of tasks, etc)
be involved with at least one committee (committees often communicate by email/Skype rather than in-person meetings)
represent Halifax Crafters in a professional manner throughout Halifax and NS communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Work to uphold the mission and vision of Halifax Crafters Society
Maintain knowledge of the organization and personal commitment to its goals and objectives.
Sit on at least one committee within the organization (Floor Plan, Social Media, Poster, Outreach, Volunteer etc).
Communicate with the Board and other committees.
Expected Commitment:
1-3 hours per week on a regular basis. Workload can vary throughout the year, increasing when markets happen.

About Halifax Crafters
Halifax Crafters is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization with a mandate to encourage new artists and local art making. Our membership and Board is comprised of a group of dedicated volunteers that work to fulfill our mission and vision within the creative community and organize our bi-annual craft markets to best serve our exhibitors.
Mission: To cultivate an accessible environment for craftspeople where their work is valued by providing opportunities to grow, celebrating contemporary handcraft and creating a connection with the community.
Vision: To see Halifax flourish as a creative hub where craft is appreciated for both its economic and cultural merit.
